Let's shift gears and talk about stocks that haven't participated in the rally. Now often when stocks are cheap there's a good reason for it, but we all know that sometimes it gets overdone. I suppose we can also include some fallen angels...
Here's an off-the-top-of-my-head list in no particular order:
CEPH - I bought a little after the recent plunge.
IGEN - recent cc says slowdown in sales because of some teething troubles with M-series, now apparently corrected, but enough to act as a short/mid-term drag on the stock. POC deal w/ Bayer they were v. enthusiastic about, but no details given. (Probably means a Roche settlement is not around the corner, even though the Bayer deal was non-exclusive).
SANG - seems to be pulling out of its slump. Some real value that the market doesn't seem to care about. Bought a very little recently.
GLFD (GLIA) - still looks cheap, particularly w/ AMGN go-ahead today. I effectively own a little via the few GLIA shares I have left.
PCYC - who knows where this is going
INKP - tiny bowel-prep co looks ready to break out. I've held for a while but it's not gone anywhere yet.
CRIS - when it bottoms out? Haven't really followed them since I bailed from CBMI a long while back.
BGEN still near its lows. I haven't owned it for a while, but am looking again. (Any comments, Harold?)
PCYC - who knows where this is going
GLGC - up the hill and down again, starting to look attractive once more. Now that my gain is finally long-term, I find I don't want to sell at these prices. (Although I did sell a portion in the stratosphere and did write some calls at one point).
VICL - another up and down
CGPI - not going anywhere fast
Some Rick faves:
VPHM - ICAAC coming, big short position
KDUS - roach motel central
NBSC - nuts, bolts and shakers with a kicker
I own a fair number of all of these, mostly in pretty small (some trivial) amounts.
Any other suggestions? Mostly looking for relatively low-profile, overlooked stocks.
