Thats another good thing about mass transit...it forces people to walk a little. Americans are so darned lazy sometimes...they often drive two or three blocks. One of my pet peeves is the drug law thing...I mean, if we are going to prosecute people for taking drugs (because they are harming themselves), I think we ought to prosecute em for getting fat, too - cause that's bad for you, too.

I visited New York recently...and it wasn't nearly as dirty as I always heard it was (I guess cause of Guilliani, sp?). But, the subway confused me...and the people working in the booth refused to help me...they just pointed at the map.

They laid track out to rich neighborhoods first in Dallas, too...I never understood that, cause rich people, it seemed to me, would drive anyway. But, that's pure speculation on my part...I've never read any studies on it. I did read Dallas has been successful with light rail.
