The domino theory did hold after VietNam fell. The communists caused great suffering, death and privation to the south VietNamese people. "Rabid anti-communist"? Sorry, I grew up in a generation that was scarred by our failure to act on behalf of the people of Romania, Hungary, East Germany, Poland and Czechoslovakia after WWII. Call me rabid if you must, I don't care to see or hear people being tortured, destroyed and killed for any reason, including the fact that they are not communist. "Imagined threat"? History has demonstrated that those that apologized for the communists were proven wrong. Tell the victims of genocide in Cambodia or Ukraine that the threat was imaginary. They won't believe you any more than I do.
