Glenn which announcement you are referring to? Was there any
news item from Oracle regarding this?

Here it is:

Dow Jones Newswires -- May 15, 1997

Oracle Set To Make Acquisition, Goldman Analyst Says

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Oracle Corp. (ORCL) is set to make a technology
acquisition ''of some significance,'' according to Rick Sherlund, an
analyst at Goldman Sachs & Co.

In a research note, Sherlund said Oracle has stated publicly that it
will make an announcement either on Thursday or next Monday.

He wasn't immediately available to elaborate on where the disclosure was
made. Oracle officials held an analysts' briefing on Wednesday, Sherlund
said in the note.

Oracle officials were not immediately available to comment.

In the note, Sherlund also said Oracle indicated it would address the
applications business with more vertical market products, ''including a
soon-to-be-disclosed effort in the energy market'' against SAP AG
(SAPHY), a German software developer that is a strong player in that
market.

Oracle, of Redwood Shores, Calif., provides database software and
applications software.

AND THIS:

Oracle's Philippines Project

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- Oracle Corp. said it entered an agreement with
the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. to set up infrastructure for
network computers in the Philippines.

Oracle didn't say how much revenue it expects from the agreement, which
prompted a visit to the company by Philippine President Fidel Ramos. But
the deal could be a boost for the concept of network computers,
championed by Oracle's chief executive, Larry Ellison, and some others
as alternatives to personal computers. Network computers are envisioned
as inexpensive devices that allow users to download software programs
and other material from the Internet.
