The truly pathetic thing about the feuds that divided TAOTN is that they seemed to stem largely from political differences that surfaced during the impeachment hearings, though the group was intended to be for the discussion of technical analysis of stocks.
I'm reminded of an article I read recently on Gethsemani, once the home of Thomas Merton, which spoke of "living together in harmony, conservatives and liberals in the same house."
With TAOTN, this seemed impossible. One person was banned, it seemed, as a result of a feud prompted by his defense of Clinton against statements that the President "should be shot," and another was tossed out largely for defending that member.
There were other differences that led to the feuds, and again, to my mind, they were petty, and could -- in fact, should -- have been easily resolved. But a few members chose to blow them out of proportion and use their power with the unsubscribe button to ban two members with much to contribute. TAOTN -- Technical Analysis on the Net -- remains divided, unfortunately. It seems to have become far too secretive now, bound by confidentiality agreements. Discussion of technical analysis of stocks has at times waned, too. |
