If you look at the retail charts, the big five's slice is smaller than the rest in either units or revenue. The same is true in the commercial/business market. People like the face to face service rather than the "you are simply a number", and "indefinite wait on hold" service of the big five. Many of the big five scrimp so much on their service departments these days that finding a very knowledgeable person is very hard. They force even large customers to jump through hoops to get something fixed. IMHO this is why the big five continue to lose business to "other". You do not want to be on the phone for what seems like hours because your main business system's cache just packed it in.
