| The preferred term is Caucasoid, I believe, and complexion is neither the only, nor the most significant, variable. The shape of the eye and nose, for example, is much more important. East Indians, for example, are counted as Caucasoid because of these other characteristics, even though they are frequently fairly dark complected. The Semitic peoples are considered to be Caucasoid, as are the Turkic peoples. In fact, North Africa, Asia Minor, the Islamic Republics of the former Soviet Union, Georgia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and assorted other places I neglected to mention are full of persons considered to be Caucasoid. Thus, your point as to the popular error is well taken, although anyone reasonably informed would not make the error........ |
