Some notes from the Leap day-long presentation....I was particuarly interested in the stuff about capacity. There is a whole lot more available.

-42m POP's by the end of 2001. They are planning to roll-out 8 markets by the end of the year. 2 in Oct, 2 in Nov, 4 in Dec. They are working on the roll-out for a total of 33 markets. 2/3 of markets have more than 10MHz of spectrum.

- MOU is running between 800m to 1000m a months.

-Current headcount is 232....will expand to 1000 by the end of this year. Anyone need a job?

CDMA Capacity

I think they said that the model they use shows about 50mErlangs/sub.

- 9 Erlangs/Sector using 13Kbps Vocoder

- 17 using EVRC

- 18.3 due to LU's improvements to infrastructure (involved raising the FER...i think). This is what Leap uses now.

- 29 w/1xrtt

- 43 Using a Smart (or "selectable") Vocoder which should be commercial in 2002.

These capacity gains are without adding in those that will occur due to antenna improvements. These should be upto 50% in the short-term and 100-200% in the long-term.

1xrtt BTS's should be available "about a year from now". Handsets will follow in the 2nd half of '01 or 1st half of '02. This seems a little odd considering Korea is rolling out 1xrtt within the next couple of months.
