I guess where I was heading with this is this: all this "prior" claim stuff and "racial" identity stuff is really pretty weak. All lands of the world have pretty much been taken, abandoned, retaken, conquered and our fervent belief in "race" and it's importance is only obvious to us!

Science has yet to demonstrate it. I was watching the NOVA and they were investigating a claim of an African tribal group as being one of the lost tribes of Israel.

It turns out that a Jewish tradition, that of the priestly class passed only on the paternal side, leaves a genetic signature. Because of a rare genotype only held by Cohens (or Cohanim), the priest class can be traced to the very same priest class in this clan. They have never admitted men into the tribe, only women. So this Cohanim genotype seems to have the same fraction in these dark skinned, African-looking (formerly called Negroid) people as those who are in Israel.

So, through repetitive female-gene cross-breeding, male-gene inbreeding, this Cohanim genetic marker was preserved. In the same ratio. Now that's scientific. You can imagine what South African "Jews" think of this. They have always rejected the claim of this group's apparently legitimate claim to Jewish ancestry.
