MUNICH, Germany, Sept. 10, 1998 – The new MultiMediaCard Association, established in May, 1998, with 14 industry-leading companies, has more than doubled in size with 15 new firms joining including major manufacturers such as Sony and Advanced Micro Devices. The announcement was made today at a press conference held by SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK). SanDisk, along with Siemens AG of Germany, introduced the ultra-small, removable memory card in November, 1997, as a new storage standard for mobile phones, audio players, voice recorders and other small, portable electronic devices.
