Gee, Neo, guess you never were a hippie. Guess you were too young? Or just too straight.

Alcohol vs. drugs - nope, hippies liked beer and wine, but not hard liquor, and of course dope was cheaper and everyone thought it was healthier than alcohol or tobacco. No one ever got cirrhosis from dope, and the number of people who could stand up long enough to beat the crap out of someone while stoned is probably low.

True about rock, but that was everyone of that age back then. Then and now, be-bop appeals to the few.

Anti-intellectual? Not exactly, we liked to read stuff like Locke, Bakunin, Freud, people who questioned the status quo.

TM? Not at all, real hippies did real meditation, e.g. zazen. TM is for pseudos, the type of California airhead that actually wore Nehru jackets.

Ken Kesey (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) was a real hippie, and Cassidy was on the bus, if you remember.
