If you think that just because a program resides on a server or on the net it will be free you are sadly mistaken. The business model could be essentially the same. Today they charge my company based on the numbers of users and they will do that in the future. MSFT asks us how many people will be using MS Office and we say 320. They hand us a CD Rom and charge us for 320 licenses. In the future they can do exactly the same thing, but instead of handing us a CD Rom, they will have us access the software online. Same $ to the MSFT bottom line.

.Net free? Wrong. An OS or an application that resides on a server, intranet, or internet is still an application that MSFT owns and has a right to be paid for. This is not a phenomena that will suddenly change.
