Mephisto: Sun could sell their low-end workstations if they put them in a box, like other PC manufactures, and sold those workstations at Comp USA and other computer shops.

If Sun did that, the company may very well be the next Dell.

I take it you don't know anything about DELL either?

Dell sells direct, you're thinking of a Gateway type of model.

This is a non-issue though. The real problem is why are all of the competitors' servers getting faster while Sun's are not? Where is the Ultra Sparc III? Is there a problem? How come IBM's 24-way S80 server running on a chip that was qualified over 18 months ago beat the 64-way E10000 on every benchmark?
