<So, forgive my naivite, but while that sounds bearish in the short term (stock anticipated to go down so that puts are exercised), doesn't it sound bullish longer term (they want a large long position because they think the stock will then go up)? > No, what's happening is that they want LONG STOCK [for the obvious reason... to wack bids, you can't do that if you're shorting.], that's the only reason for the play. When they're done wacking out all the stock they are long [ie. now naked long the puts] then they exercise puts and they are dead short. DAK
