European ADRs: Techs, phones jump By Liza Roberts, CBS MarketWatch.com Last Update: 5:01 AM ET Aug 9, 2000 NewsWatch Latest headlines LONDON (CBS.MW) - Technology and telecommunications shares were the standouts Wednesday among European ADRs. Stocks like Infineon and Alacatel got a boost from earnings news and a generally bullish mood. Bookham Technology (BKHM: news, msgs) added 0.38 euro, or about half a percent to 71.94 on volume of 1.1 million shares after the maker of high-speed chips for fiber optics beat analyst expectations with second quarter results. The company said losses in the quarter narrowed to 4.6 million pounds from 5.6 million in the first quarter. Revenues jumped 84 percent quarter-over-quarter to 4.6 million. Bookham said the outlook for the fiber optics industry remains strong.... cbs.marketwatch.com
