They were taught to take pills and liquid drugs to maintain their life.

I think that this is one of the key messages. I don't really care one way or another whether ADD and ADHD are real diseases or just convenient labels for difficult behavior, we all need to learn how to make it in the world and it is best if we are not dependent on an outside substance to cope.
