Where do Gore and Nader stand on tort reform? They oppose efforts to limit access to court. They oppose efforts to eliminate punitive damages. They oppose efforts to place a cap on general damages. They support the right to trial by jury. Nadar, in particular, believes that access to court serves as a powerful deterrent to unsafe products and practices. Here, in the State of Washington, we had a natural gas pipeline explode by Bellingham causing some deaths. If we did not have our justice system, similar events would increase. Conservatives believe in the death penalty as a deterrent but are not consistent when it comes to unsafe products and practices.
