Sideways Likely

By Paul Cherney, S&P Market Analyst

NEW YORK, Aug. 09 (Standard & Poor's) - Cisco Systems (CSCO) revenue growth should have been enough to get this market moving decidedly higher.

Since it didn't, I would be more inclined to expect sideways to lower prices for a couple of trade days. This applies to the S&P 500 as well.

Immediate NASDAQ resistance is 3872-3902 then 3921-3954.
The index is testing immediate support in the 3861-3840 area. Next support is 3822-3795.

The S&P 500 has overlapping supports: 1463-1450 and 1454-1430 (which makes 1454-1450 a focus of support).
Immediate resistance begins with any print above 1488. <<<
