Tony,

I'm sorry if you felt that I was rubbing it in. That was not my intention. As you know, I have been constantly suggesting that people should take profits after the stock has had a good run. The reason why I said that it's too late for some people is that I feel at least some of them are going to get impatient and sell this at a loss only to end up chasing something else that has run up 50% in two weeks or one month or something like that.

Regarding Brinker, I remember him saying in Jan that the current stock-market action, which he believes is a prelude to a bear market of considerable proportions, will take a long time to play out. He has given a time frame of anywhere from 1 year to 2 years (i.e. about 6 months to 18 months from now). The fact that the market has gone around nowhere in the last nearly 8 months (in fact, every major average is in negative territory YTD) after 20%-plus returns for 5 years in a row, makes me think that he's onto something. Of course, one doesn't have to follow his advice and even I haven't followed it in its entirety.
