Pacific North West Dana Lake Phase 2 drill results

Pacific North West Capital Corp PFN
Shares issued 16,175,375 Aug 9 close $1.23
Wed 9 Aug 2000 News Release
Also Atacama Minerals Corp (AAM)
Mr. Harry Barr reports
Anglo-American Platinum Corporation Limited has increased its River Valley
exploration budget by 50 per cent. Under the terms of the joint venture,
Amplats was required to expend $1-million on exploration in 2000. Amplats
will now expend $1.5-million on exploration in River Valley in order to
expedite the process of defining a mineral resource on the property.
Phase 2 drill results
In total 14 holes were drilled (RV00-14 to 27, total 2,820 metres), with an
objective to test the dip, width and depth extent of platinum group metal
(PGM) mineralization. Previous drilling (Phase 1) intersected significant
PGM mineralization in 13 of 13 holes including 3.42 grams per tonne over
7.2 metres (RV00-08) and 3.15 grams per tonne over 8.85 metres (RV00-03)
and accompanied by broad intersections that included 2.28 grams per tonne
over 42.28 metres (RV00-01) and 2.46 grams per tonne over 29.7 metres
(RV00-05). Sulphide-associated PGM mineralization is hosted by intrusive
mafic breccia, close to the base of the gabbro-anorthosite River Valley
intrusion, near its contact with Archean gneiss.
Dana Lake Area (RV00-15,18,19,20,21,22,26,26,27)
Nine drill holes were drilled into the main body of the Dana Lake deposit
between Lines 550 N and Line 215 S, in order to ascertain the shape of the
deposit and to advance the current understanding of individual drill
sections (generally spaced at 50-metre intervals).
Significant values were intersected in seven of the holes and are
summarized below. Further rhodium and Cu-Nu values will be reported as soon
as they are available.
Results of the Phase 1 and 2 drill programs indicate that the main body of
mineralization extends, at least intermittently, between Lines 600 N and
215 S, and parallels the intrusive contact for a distance of at least 900
metres (2,953 feet).

Discussion of results:
The Phase 2 drill results indicate that magmatic breccia-hosted PGM
mineralization extends to a vertical depth of at least 180 metres (591
feet) and remains open to depth. The dip of the breccia unit varies from 70
degrees west to 70 degrees east. No drilling was carried out south of the
mineralized intercept in RV00-12 (Phase 1) and mineralization remains open
toward the south.
Phase 3 drilling:
A Phase 3 drill program will commence in September and will focus on
developing a mineral resource in the Dana Lake area.
Dana Lake north: (RV00-14, 16, 17, 23, 24)
Five holes were drilled north of the main mineralized zone at Dana Lake.
The holes were aimed at testing the area beneath the surface mineralization
exposed on Lines 600N and 700N and coincident IP anomalies in the area.
Stripping and detailed sampling along L600 N and 700N produced a
distribution of PGM grades similar to that of previous stripping to the
south; L600 N -- 135 samples averaging 1.38 grams per tonne; L700 N -- 140
samples averaging 1.80 grams per tonne.
Phase 2 drill results show this area to be much more structurally complex
than the area to the south of Line 600 N. The complexity is likely a result
of increasing proximity to the Grenville front and associated east dipping
thrust faults. Mineralization in this area is affected by post-mineral
faulting resulting in narrow intervals grading 1-2 g/t Pt plus Pd plus Au,
or broader intervals of lower grade mineralization.
Future exploration:
Orientation down-hole IP surveys are planned, which will probe holes in
this area and in the area of the main mineralized body, to assist in
further interpretation. IP surveys are also planned for the north extension
of the intrusion into Pardo township.
Further drilling will be carried out north of L550 N, in the Phase III
drill program to establish if significant mineralization continues north
and beyond the structurally complex region.

Dana Lake south
A recent infill IP survey between L200N and 100S has shown the
chargeability anomaly is continuous through this area. A near continuous IP
anomaly was also identified and is open to the southeast. In total the
anomalies extend intermittently for a distance of five kilometres, and
correlate with the eastern contact of the River Valley intrusion.
Prospecting over these anomalies has exposed mineralized magmatic breccia
with assay values exceeding 1 gram per tonne PGM.
Future exploration:
Stripping and detailed sampling programs will test IP target areas south
and southeast of the South zone. Future drill targets will be outlined on
the basis of these results.
Azen Creek area - Jackson's Flats
IP surveys will be carried out in these areas to complete the geophysical
coverage of the prospective intrusive contact towards the southeastern
extent of the property.
