I can't either.

I suppose that if one truly does ignore a post, the inclination to respond won't exist in the first place.

There are posts everyone at this web site ignores. However, it is the problem posters that are hard to truly ignore. So maybe we have a problem with the term "ignore".

Perhaps we could form a more precise protocol by not using the word ignore at all, and instead, say something to the effect--"do not respond to the post even though it might be tempting to do so".

Not to be overly picky here, but if we're having some difficulty, not only with the word ignore, but with actually ignoring problem posters, then I suggest we consider changing the response protocols in some way to reduce the ambiguity.
