Did you know that some years ago both houses of the U.S. Congress adopted resolutions, formally apologizing to native Hawaiians for the annexation of Hawaii?
Isn't it enough that I humbly apologize to everyone who lost land? Ever. Heck, I'm doing it for the whole world. So now that we have that settled, anyone who ever lost land should be satisfied. I know I feel better. I didn't need that plot in the Irish countryside anyway. Or that piece of New York my Iroquois ancestors held.
Further, I declare now before the Feelies thread of SI, anyone who can establish that they were, in fact, at a permanent resident at this hour, 10:22 pm 8/9/00, will now be declared a resident of same. So be it. If they were travelling, or can demonstrate that they had been forcibly removed from such permanent residence against their will, even though they didn't physically live at this place at this hour, they can return to such place and call it home.
