Not much. That was a pretty half-ass quote. "We're following it," just common courtesy, for now. That being said, Intel has kind of marshalled its friends and foes in server-land behind IA-64. I don't think one or two of them would mind supporting AMD if they thought AMD had a good implementation and a decent shot at sticking around for a long time. There is also the issue of getting a Solaris port, but that quote doesn't really indicate that any work has been undertaken on that front.
