Tovarich Goldsnow,
The timing of those bomb blasts doesn't make sense --I mean from a Chechnyan viewpoint. If there ever was a right timing for such outrageous terrorist bombings it'd probably be the end of the Russian presidential "campaign" in March 2000. Remember, I hinted at such a possibility in October 1999....
A second, genuinely Chechnyan, bombing campaign in Moscow during Putin's last mile to the Kremlin (as Prez-elect) would have had a devastating effect --it'd have destroyed Putin's credibility as a law-and-order champ.
Conversely, the current second wave of bombings perfectly suits Putin's need to justify his ongoing crackdown in Chechnya. Remember, this Chechnyan campaign was always presented as a mere "police operation" aimed at chasing "bandits" away from Grozny, and it was to last a couple of weeks only....
But what Plan B is available for Putin anyway?? I guess today's living conditions for the average Russky is awful and fast deteriorating yet. Under Yeltsin's rule, the blame tended to be funneled towards the "goddamn globaloneymongers", that is, Anglo-Saxon financiers, George Soros, and the oligarchical "First Family" (Tatiana & Co.). Now, Putin has cleverly deflected the plebs' resentment toward a less troublesome target: Caucasian wogs. At least, the Chechnyans have no stake in the Russian bond market, have no voting right inside the IMF, have no say in G8 meetings, and don't have the money to outbid the Western robber barons in the carve-up of Russian assets (Lukoil, Gazprom, etc.)
