Syclo Licenses Certicom's Security Technology for Syclo Information Manager

SIM now Utilizes Certicom's Market Leading SSL Encryption for Secure Mobile Access to Corporate Messaging Systems

BARRINGTON, Ill and HAYWARD, CA, August 10, 2000 - Syclo today announced an agreement with Certicom (Nasdaq: CERT and TSE: CIC), a leading provider of mobile and wireless security, to license Certicom's SSL Plus™ security technology for the Syclo Information Manager (SIM), a leading solution for mobile access to corporate messaging systems.

By integrating Certicom's advanced technology into its SIM suite of products, Syclo offers SIM users industrial strength encryption for secure access to corporate email, appointments, tasks and contacts over Web-enabled mobile phones and palmtop computers.

"Security is critical to giving SIM users the most effective solution for accessing their most important information - anytime, anywhere," said Richard Padula, Syclo's chief executive. "Certicom is the industry leader in mobile and wireless security, and its SSL Plus toolkit is the most widely deployed technology of its kind. With our agreement, Certicom makes SIM an even more compelling solution."

The SIM suite contains two components: SIMPhone, which allows wireless access from the latest class of mobile phones employing the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) standard to access the Web; and SIMSync, which lets palmtops synchronize via docking cradle, dial-up or wireless connections.

SIM is the only product to offer a single solution to access enterprise messaging systems such as Microsoft Exchange™ and Novell GroupWise™ over Web-enabled phones and palmtops. First released in 1997, SIM is powered by Syclo's flagship Agentry™ technology, the premier software platform for extending enterprise systems to mobile workers.

The SSL 3.0 protocol is the industry standard for securing electronic data. Certicom's SSL Plus is the most widely deployed commercial SSL implementation, due to its ease of use, rapid development time and support for multiple algorithms.

"Syclo is a dynamic company focused on providing custom mobile computing solutions that put the power of an organization's mission critical systems in the hands of its work force," said Richard Depew, Certicom executive vice president, field operations. "The addition of our trusted security technology makes SIM more attractive to users who want to be assured that their sensitive corporate information is protected at all times."
