eBay is too busy reaching out and grabbing territory to pay much attention to details. It's kind of like a salient in military tactics. Progress looks great on the map until the opposition cuts off your supply line.
I think eBay reliability is a chronic problem. If it's not designed in at the offset it can't be added later. The problem I mentioned with the seller scam back at IPO time was met with total indifference. They were unprepared to address the issue. Later they added insurance and some policing which are administrative cures but with reliability there is no way other than starting a whole new company.

P.S. I don't think DELL can turn this around. A lot of money going into bonds. Lie on the beach, play golf, the check is always in the mail.
