Is it your position, then, that if Congress passed a law prohibiting the publication or sale of any book favorable to, say, the
Democratic party, the Supreme Court would be prohibited from voiding the law?

I don't have a problem with the court striking down laws that violate the constituion. However, in my opinion it to often strikes down laws that do not violate the constituion, and doesn't strike down laws that do. Until recently it seems congress could regulate just about anything under the interstate commerce clause.

I think the supreme court should interpet the words of the constituion and of laws, not impose visions of what they thing the constituion should say.
