SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Sensory Science Corporation (Amex: VCR) today announced it is shipping its rave:mp 2300 portable Internet media player to retailers throughout the United States. The first product of its kind and the latest in Sensory Science's line of portable Internet devices, the rave:mp 2300 incorporates Iomega Corporation's Clik!(TM) drive technology as the removable storage solution for the download and playback of music and other data from their PC or the Internet.
"Our new rave:mp 2300 offers affordable removable storage media through the inclusion of the Clik! disk, a compelling feature that current flash memory-based models don't offer," said Roger Hackett, Sensory Science's chairman and chief executive officer. "The introduction of the rave:mp 2300 is a clear demonstration of Sensory Science's continuing effort to aggressively lead the portable MP3 market with unique features and an intuitive user interface that creates a dynamic user experience."
Competing flash memory expansion cards cost consumers approximately $100 (U.S.) for one 32MB card, while rave:mp 2300 users can purchase inexpensive 40MB Clik!(TM) disks for an estimated price of $9.99 (U.S.) each. Users can purchase around 400MB of Clik! disks for approximately the same price as one 32MB flash memory expansion card. Customers can now create virtually unlimited collections of music, computer files and other data.
Users can download information such as names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses from Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express to the rave:mp 2300. Additional advanced features in the device include voice recording capability, world date and time, and the ability to store computer files and other data. Users can store up to 2 1/2 hours of voice recordings on a single Clik!(TM) disk, or up to 40MB of MS Outlook names and numbers or other computer files, and simply drag and drop information from their PCs onto the player and take it anywhere.
The rave:mp 2300 is equipped with a USB interface that easily connects to the computer and provides for faster download speeds. The unit supports Windows(R) 95, 98, 2000, and NT, and is also user upgradeable, allowing it to support emerging audio formats as well as new regulatory compliance standards and operating software. The rave:mp 2300 comes with 80MB of memory using the two included 40MB Clik!(TM) disks. Each Clik! disk is individually serialized to fully support the SDMI compliancy standard.
Sensory Science has shipped its new rave:mp 2300 to numerous retailers including CompUSA, Ultimate Electronics, Good Guys, J&R Music World, Outpost.com, and more, and is retailing for $299.
