The mediocre debut of Divine Interventures, "the Internet Zaibatsu", along with the collapse of the Venture Capital sector of the Internet may actually be a plus for Softbank in the long run. It has created a buyers market so that there will be less competition for the hot new internet start ups and Softbank can afford to be even more selective than they have been. Softbank is still the preferred partner for just about everyone with an Internet venture.

I'm still hopeful that Softbank will be a "good" investment over the long run (from it's current depressed state). I'm not expecting anything like 1999 from any investment at this point. The only exceptions might be some special circumstance situation. I still look for those, but I am willing to take the risk that goes along with them. I guess I'd rather have a half a dozen wild speculations with potential than some of these solid secure investments. How about an oil exploration play with litigation attached? <G>. There's CCO (check out the CCO@ board here at SI).
