AMES chart always peak after February? Was it the new economy?

Will X'mas be a boom this year, with Greenspan declaring victory on retail slow down? The new economy people is expecting 8+% improvement over last year for the last quarter of year 2000. The question is always where is the money for the boom in the economy? Low wages are moving up to $8/hour. By September, may go higher yet. High wages are $50/hour on the internet. X'mas spending will depend on merchandise obsolescence from last year's mix. New merchandise will attract more spending. Staying the course with old merchandise will not see more growth due to saturation, locally. Baby boom has come back with 2.8 million babies born each year, adding customers we did not have before. This year, look for newer cell phones. More playstation2 and look alikes, digital cable TVs, free satellite TV giveaways by Hughes, new cars, and many more new fandangles to loosen the pulse strings. DVD still has not caught on, watch out. Jewelry, upscaling apparels, dress shoes such as slides are fashionables to be had.

The list is only the beginning. I am on the watch.
