Terry,
I was pleased to see ACSI had a thread on SI. I have a close friend who is a broker at a MAJOR brokerage (the brokerage does not carry an opinion on this equity). However, he shares information with me from other brokers in his office who have excellent track records with "speculative" stocks. He mentioned this stock to me and I bought some shares with my "speculative" cash. I can afford to break even or lose money on this equity, but thought that this information coming from this source might be an interesting play. I usually invest in stocks with low P/Es based on projected earnings, review balance sheets, look at 10Ks, etc., etc., and stay away from these type of investments, but I have decided to take the plunge to see how this story plays out.
With no factual infomation, my comments should not sway anyones opinion on this stock, but I found it interesting that some of the "Big Boys" are following this stock for reasons of the merger, and that this merger was confirmed on this thread. I hope no one mortgages the farm to buy ACSI, but a small purchase may prove adequate. Think of it as being at the roulette table and betting on Red; you could double your money, but would only stand to lose only about 50% of your initial bet. Please...., don't anyone tell Peter Lynch about these viewpoints.
By the way Terry, I have been reading ALL the comments on the SEXI thread for about a month and appreciate your contributions. I just purchased SEXI, but have only lurked on the board. I guess SEXI would account for another speculative investment. I work in the "high tech" industry and am educating myself about videoconferencing. I have found some interesting information and videoteleconferencing "primers" on the internet, and Analog through twisted pairs at 30 fps in the campus environment seems the way to go, although SEXI is in the same boat as everyone else when they leave that local environment. Sure would be nice if they come up with a radical new digital compression technique which would allow 30fps through one ISDN.
See ya on the boards,
