Dave,
I’d like to ask a couple of questions.
1) How much value do you think GMGC’s patents have? Do you think there is enough meat there to restrict the incursions that are going on in this field?
As a case in point, I’m sure you read Mark Oliver’s contribution (#8896) about Vox Generation and their “proprietary Speech User Interface”. This fits in with your comment in #8897, “... but discouraged by the speed at which others, like Nuance, have come in to fill the space.” ... a sentiment which bothers me as well.
In my limited experience, there are very few truly valuable patents ... and enforcing them is an expensive proposition. I have not had great expectations for the GMGC patents, but I would like to have your take on them.
2) My second question is about your statement in #8898 that “Much rides on IBM and the first signs of smoke and mirrors on that one seem to be emerging.” So far, I’ve seen neither smoke nor mirrors, much less anything signifying a live entity. What did I miss?
For whatever it’s worth, when I bought back in after being stopped out, I did so with the intention of waiting it out. As I’ve said elsewhere, I don’t expect much action in this stock before next year (I’m tempted to add, “if then”). Since the market seems to be in the throes of a “valuation adjustment” (at least, as far as the techs are concerned), I’m not too inclined to bail out, now. That doesn’t mean that I don’t re-evaluate my position every day.
