If that's so, and given those pricing numbers, and the fact that Intel is building new FABs for P3s that won't open until next year, I think we can assume a catastrophe has occurred in the P4 program.

Ummm I think your "assumption", might be a bit skewed. When you say that intel is "building new Fabs for P3s", you seem to be implying that a Fab is built for a "product". That is not so.

A Fab is built for a standard of cleanroom cleanliness, and an anticipated "Process". What "Products" can be run on that process, can be changed by replacing the Lithography masks, and adjusting the recipes on the other process tools.

Any Fab that can run P3, on say, 0.13u process, can be converted in a matter of weeks to run P4 simultaneously, on the same process.
