I know what you mean, SFA is simply incredible! A take-over...I have thought about that a lot. Phillips went to bed with Microsoft and by the sounds of the article below, apparently Mr. Softie screwed up the the software for the set-top boxes, which don't even include VOIP!
I have always thought Phillips should buy SFA to match the MOT / GIC union.
Either way, SFA has been my largest holding for the past 2 years...and still going strong!

UPC: Set-Top Boxes To Be Rolled Out In September

AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--United Pan-Europe Communications NV(UPCOY, news, msgs) Friday said it plans to roll out its set-top box in Amsterdam by the end of September as scheduled, although it declined to comment on media reports
that it faced software problems.
Media reports have questioned whether UPC will be able to make the September deadline, saying that the cable company was having problems with the software for the set-top boxes which will be delivered by Microsoft Corp.
UPC's shares fell on the reports and were trading at EUR25.50 at 1250 GMT, down EUR1.95 or 7.1%.
A UPC spokesman did say that the first model wouldn't contain voice over IP (internet protocol).
In a statement, the company said the box will house a cable modem that allows for a connection of the internet with a personal computer and that the set-top will be software upgradable to accommodate new interactive services. These services can be downloaded without a technician needing to change the box.
UPC further stated that "the Microsoft software was selected for our set-top computer after a software evaluation for out triple play (video, voice and data)."
