I am in agreement on the CLECs. I have always questioned their biz model, and viewed them as a form of telco affirmative action. There entry onto the scene was met with much fanfare. Now they are approaching an era where the growth has stagnated, they are looking for newer, but less profitable markets, but the competition only becomes more intense. We are about to enter an era of consolidation & realignment. And the NPNT-VZ is only the tip of the iceberg.

We often discuss issues here like "bundling" or "convergence" or "content is king." All these are evident of where, IMHO, I believe things are headed, and in this respect, the CLECs are at a competitive disadvantage, particularly in the residential space, where they have recently made a decision to expand their market presence.
