Well taking the semi equipment makers, AMAT specifically - how can that business be cyclical?

Don't you need their products for all kinds of chips, communication etc.

I don't know - I just find this same old "cyclical business" chant on those stocks to be overdone. It reminds me of 5 years ago in big software - every mktg dept in the world said high end software was cyclical on a 10 year cycle (imagine that), so in the early 80s it was cullinet, D&B etc. who were the players and then the early 90s Oracle ERP + Sap. But then it was going to be a 10-year hibernation so we had all better look for different careers.

Then the internet came and software exploded. Now nobody talks about cycles. When is that going to happen to these semi stocks.

I agree that Dell is still cyclical based on msft and intc release cycles, and any vendor that only makes chips for Dell and PCs, but everybody else? Come on...
