Lizze, your comment "cisco is that it is growing faster than its smaller (but also huge) competitors such as NT which are focused in the hot growth sectors" tells me you should NOT be investing in this sector!

NT is LARGER than CSCO if you ever looked at their respective revenues.

By the way, the networking world is RADICALLY changing and CSCO is being FORCED to change/evolve/morph into the Carrier market. There is LOT of risk inherent in this huge corporate makeover. NOTHING is guaranteed and as many astute telecom analysts have pointed out, CSCO is valued for perfection and yet they are entering into the den of existing Gorillas who have demonstrated their capability in the public networking infrastructure market.

CSCO MAY pull it off -- in which case their shares will CONTINUE to be valued at the current lofty levels OR CSCO will fail partially or miserably in which case you will see your CSCO shares worth around 10% of what it is today....say a market cap of around $50 billion!

Hard to believe? Welcome to the high-tech world Lizzie and if you have big chunk of your hard-earned real-world retirement savings in CSCO, I would not sleep that lightly.
