I just wonder if the decline in 9 volt sales might be due to a secular trend away from battery powered smoke alarms and toward permanently wired smoke and carbon dioxide alarms that run off the mains. Permanently wired detectors would be the first choice in new construction and remodeling. Battery powered detectors are mainly for older buildings that are not having a major remodeling where you would call in the electricians and have them run wires for detectors. Without new state laws mandating 10 year batteries like the Oregan one, the growth in smoke alarm battery sales will plateau. I hope the new pouch and rechargeable lines ramp up soon because there may be more than just an inventory correction in the fall off in 9 volt sales.
