hey LPS5,

on tonight's undercard we find

WBA welterweight champ James Page vs. Andrew “Six Heads” Lewis...

from what i just read on the subject, page has been inactive (for over a year?) due largely to the effects of trying to extricate himself from the clutches of don king. the article made his lack of fights sound almost like blackballing, or at least other promoters and matchmakers being hesitant to touch him. the article did also mention page's somewhat lackluster training regime, and as i recall, his frequent managerial changes. seems some trainers have elected to take a hike when they see first-hand how poorly page trains.

on the 'six heads' lewis front....

i read that he got his name because of his punching ability. as the story goes (and everyone from lewis' mother to his friends and fellow boxers are attesting to its validity), a lewis opponent once got hit so hard by lewis that he asked the referee to stop the contest because, he claimed, he saw "six heads out there, man". <g3> lewis says he "really likes" the nickname.

imo, page is one tough hombre. i look forward to the undercard as well as evander.

:)
