Hi Kenneth,
This line really had me LOL: "Over the course of the last six months, the DSL technology has been completely changed," Verizon vice president Larry Babbio said in a conference call yesterday. "In my mind, those service issues are behind us." Now I know for certain that the corner office crowd has lost touch entirely with the customer reality. ;~)
Or how about "Resuscitating the Dead" Award for SBC has put its consumer DSL business in the hands of Prodigy Communications, Now let's see, if Prodigy couldn't run a BBS, imagine how good they'll be at not running a DSLAM operation.... sheesh, now I get it Pronto, Prodigy, Poof.
So to answer Borland's question, can the baby Bells do broadband? I dunno, but they sure seem to be intent on trying it with one hand tied behind their back. And why? Because these subsidiaries can be run with the CWA getting a piece of the pie.
Any bets on who'll be the next in line: BLS/COVD, QWST/TGNT.... (oops, that last one might actually work...)
