Serious technical analysts do not dismiss a company's fundamentals because they consider them irrelevant, but because of the assumption that ultimately price reflects all information available about a company. So it is not like they are dismissing the importance of fundamentals to the movement of stock prices as you are implying. You are right that by focusing exclusively on technicals they will miss those stocks where for whatever reasons price action is lagging fundamentals, but once they start moving technicals will reflect it. Of course you are likely to enjoy a headstart being directly aware of the fundamental outlook and I'm not trying to dispute the merit of combining technicals with fundamental research.
