Scumbria and Hume Invalidate RMBS Patents; Is TI Next?
(SI Express - August 13, 2000)
In a blockbuster announcement on Silicon Investor's RMBS thread Saturday, master prognosticators Scumbria and Alan Hume announced that the patented techniques underlying RMBS' claims to SDRAM and DDR technology were in fact invented by Hume over 20 years ago.
After Hume made his stunning announcement, Scumbria contacted Infineon, Hitachi, and Toshiba. Hitachi and Toshiba then revoked their deals with RMBS, made earlier this year, under which they were to have paid RMBS royalties all all forms of DRAM.
When asked how they had been so confident that Hume's invention was the key to RMBS' claims of infringement against the Dramurai, as opposed to dozens of other claims contained in the many RMBS patents pertaining to SDRAM and DDR, Scummy and Hume replied, "Hey, we're friends with Bilow, Parrott, and Nightowl - give us some credit, OK?"
Reached for comment, the Dramurai issued the following statement: "We are indebted to Sumbria and Hume for their significant developments in the area of DRAM patent law. The dozens of leading attorneys and electrical engineers studying this matter over many months were unable to develop a cogent defense against RMBS claims. That is why we settled our cases out of court. Yet, Scumbria and Hume managed to blow apart RMBS' IP claims. Let freedom ring. Let freedom ring." |
