Interesting question: George Plimpton once said that he set about trying to experience everything there was to experience in life - and do it with gusto. Box, play football, write a book, climb a mountain, etc. - the list is long. He suggested that you make a list of 100 things you'd like to experience before you die and gave some examples (and here I paraphrase and make up because I don't remember all of them): Go to the highest point in the continental US and the lowest - this can be done in the same day at Death Valley and Mt Whitney; Write a book, a poem, a song; Learn to play at least 3 instruments; become accomplished in at least 3 sports; Visit all the continents; Experience every mode of transportation in one day; Make a meaningful contribution of your time to charity - give back some of what you've been given; Try every water sport, winter sport, competitive sport; Try a hobby - like photography, painting, bird watching, stamp collecting - any type of collecting for that matter; - well you get the idea. Somewhere along the way, you'll discover something you love to do. I found skiing, kayaking, golf and sailing among other things and am concentrating on the latter two right now. But that could change tomorrow if something else comes up. I think if you encourage your kids to *live* life, get involved, and try to become a good citizen, they will find out what makes them happy.
