You missed the point of Alan's post. He said that they used double edged clocking as the solution to the unreliability problem. The implication from his post is that double edged clocking allowed them to run the clock at a slower speed, making the circuit stable.

For example, it is easier to run a memory bus at 133MHz than it is at 400MHz. Which is why DDR is expected to be much cheaper than DRDRAM.
