Hi Scumbria; A note on Sony, RDRAM, notebook computers, and DDR...

Sony turning to Transmeta, AMD chips August 11, 2000
Sources say Sony, which has relied solely on Intel chips, will feature processors from Intel rivals for two new versions of its Vaio notebooks later this year.
...
One model will be powered by Transmeta Corp.'s Crusoe processor ...

The reason that this has some impact on Rambus is that Transmeta (and AMD) are both RDRAM avoiders. Transmeta, in particular, has been a chief proponent of DDR, particularly in notebooks:

So maybe Sony is rethinking the corporate dedication to RDRAM...

If so, that would make the third major user of RDRAM to dump the technology: Nintendo, Intel, and now Sony.
