" If server software requires modification, it will then require extensive testing and validation and stability/reliability confirmation. These added costs - which will require significant time and engineering resources - will have to be weighed against any advantages that an AMD CPU will have over an Intel XEON - which will most likely be limited to the silicon cost. Ergo, spending $50,000 of engineering time to save $200-$300 on an AMD CPU may not be a top priority on most busy IT managers agendas. Paul
