As I said before, these are just my opinions.
These are just my opinions, based on 1) reading brokerage analyst reports (buy-side), 2) using both the Palm O/S, and the Microsoft C/E O/S, and 3) seeing how the industry is developing.
My prediction is that the Pocket PC is the industry leader in the next 2 years (say by 9/30/2002). I'll keep track of this post, to see how correct or way out there I am.
I'm only stating my feelings about the future of the PDA market. That & $1.86 will buy you a cup of sbux coffee.

although i don't have the specific posts from advalorem to point to, i recall him saying, in no particular order...
a) his analysis is usually wrong TRUE
b) he'd love to see PALM 'beat' MSFT TRUE
c) he thinks MSFT will prevail over PALM TRUE
d) his assessment of the situation was wrong, but is now right FALSE, I ONLY REALLY BEGAN DISCOUNTING PALM'S PROSPECTS AFTER USING BOTH A PALM & A HWP545, READING BUY SIDE BROKERAGE REPORTS, AND SEEING HOW THE INDUSTRY IS DEVELOPING: WHO ACTS AS THE LEADER, AND WHO REACTS.
based on these sorts of statements that seem to vary significantly from one time to another, i'm just of the opinion that advalorem really doesn't know what to think about all this. for example, really wanting to see one company 'lose' a product war is not a very good reason for buying stock in one of its competitors. true/false: I own both palm/msft stock, but would make out a lot better if Palm would win. I've said before I want a tech leader besides msft, ala Palm. TRUE: I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT ALL OF THIS. I DON'T KNOW WHO IS GOING TO WIN. I DO KNOW WHAT THE BUYSIDE REPORTS SAY, I CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN PRODUCT OFFERINGS, AND I DO HAVE AN OPINION, BASED UPON USING BOTH.
in general, his posts are not of a type one would expect from a PALM long. If I ever become predictable in what my opinions SHOULD be, then shoot me with the weapon of your choice.
i mean no disrespect to ad When I indicate that I am stating simply an opinion, it is just that. I'm not clear on the disecting of each word in order to ridicule me or prove me wrong. But if I have to post a reply to defend an OPINION, then I will. |
