I'm intrigued by the story behind WIND, but my knowledge of the technology is next to nil. I 've lurked around this thread for some while, and I own a small position. I'd appreciate reading comments about the article excerpted below:

Trolltech and NEC collaborate on GUI product for embedded Linux
8/9/2000 Trolltech has developed a graphical user interface (GUI) solution using NEC Electronic's VR Series 64-bit MIPS RISC microprocessors. Qt/Embedded, Trolltech’s GUI application framework for embedded Linux, has been modified to run on NEC’s evaluation boards featuring VR4100 family of processors.
The company will officially launch the product at LinuxWorld expo at San Jose, CA from Aug. 15 to 17. The GUI will be shown on NEC’s VR4181 based reference platform and VR4121 based Casio Cassiopeia E-105. Qt/Embedded runs independently of the X Windows system and features anti-aliased text and alpha blended pixmaps.

The VR4100 processors can be used for portable handheld systems, and they provide stability and scalability to manufacturers of embedded devices.

“NEC Electronics is committed to supporting Linux. We are pleased that Trolltech is supporting embedded developers with the tools needed to implement next-generation Linux applications using NEC’s VR4100 family of processors,” says Karl Auker, assistant general manager of the VR Series microprocessors business unit at NEC.

Specifically, I'd like to read arguments, for and against, about WIND's prospects versus Linux or in conjunction with it.

Thanks in advance,

Phil
