Pete,

re:Linux

Until they get a stable browser, it is useless for me.
Yes the OS is rock solid otherwise, but Netscape is unusable.

I've tried it on three different machines, used several different versions of Netscape, all will crash within a few minutes of running java screens. The windows become frozen and using your TOP or process management screen, Netscape is using 99% cpu time. Lost in a loop I guess. Yes you can kill it and restart Netscape, but who wants to keep restarting 8 windows?

Of course I run NT and Win98, because IE4 is the most stable browser. IE5 and IE5.5 all have the same bug which renders the browser useless also. I don't know what was done between 4.0 and 5.0, but MS screwed it up.

Of course dear MS will not let you load IE4 on Win98SE.

I give up trying to contact anyone to show them the problem.
Maybe someone reading this might ask.

Getting back almost on topic, never thought much about memory costing more than the cpu............
