There seems to be an incredible amount of posturing, backtracking, and verbal smoke about the Korean issue. If this article is to be believed, the evil Korean equipment manufacturers are trying to shove cdma2000 for the 3G spectrum down the throats of the innocent carriers who have found enlightenment with wcdma. I think we have docomo dollars talking while the carriers' lips are moving.

On the other hand if one believes what we see in the US handset market, the Korean manufacturers, esp. Samsung seem to have gotten it right and are making very popular and competitive instruments. It would make sense that this expertise would evolve into 3G, making cdma 2000 the natural choice for Korea. The development of multimodal chipsets for the international roaming crowd,(a small % of users), should quiet most of the fud.
